Bertrand was sitting there eating his lunch... which was technically breakfast. He was eating Froot Loops in the milk-submerged bowl of his. And he felt like a dingus for some odd reason. He was mumbling to himself about how things sucked game-wise and looked down at his cereal.

Birdy walked into the kitchen to get another cup of coffee. She didn’t like to say she was addicted to the stuff, but deep down she knew she needed it to function. But when she entered the kitchen she noticed Bertrand looking a bit spaced out. “Well hello dear, penny for your thoughts?” Birdy pulled up a chair and sat down by him.

Bertrand looked up as Birdy sat next to him. He had also been meaning to speak with her too. He had admired strong, driven, intelligent women who liked to take charge. Maybe she knew how to get him out of his current funk...

... This is embarrassing. A guy who wants to become a professional therapist is looking up to OTHERS for advice? That’s strange.

“Hello Birdy. I guess you could say that. Do you mind if I... ramble?”

Birdy smiled kindly, “Of course dear. Tell ol’ Birdy what’s on your mind!” Birdy clasped her hands together and leaned forward a bit. As a wisened older woman, Birdy often found her place listening to others who needed someone to listen to them.

Bertrand could tell that she actually cared about listening to what he had to say. Too bad the U.S. couldn't get more politicians like her. Well, it could, but most people who want to lead tend to be very stubborn.

“I don’t know why, but the way the game is going just reminds me of why capitalism should not be the U.S.’ ideal type of government. As you saw with Chen, he asked to be evicted, and he got his wish. A perfect example of socialism going well. Why can’t THAT be how we do politics in this country?”

Birdy sighed. Not in a way that showed exasperation, but in a way that said she understood and wished she had the power to change it. “Well Bertrand, everyone has their own way of thinking. It’s a constant struggle of showing the other side that we respect them and their views so that they will respect us an our views. If we don’t have respect for each other, nothing gets done and nobody listens to anybody. We can make change in the world Bertrand, but we need time to make it happen. Just be patient and persistent, but not violent or unwilling to compromise. Does that make sense? This old lady has been around for a loooong time now Bertrand, and she’s seen a lot lemme tell you! Change happens, and perhaps someday the world will change the way that you and I hope for. But we have to remain respectful and patient, eh?” Birdy didn’t know if what she was saying made any sense to him, but she hoped that he understood.

...Where was Birdy B. Smith in all of his life? This woman is exactly who needs to have a bigger say in what is done in the country. She listens to what others have to say, she’s got a strong approach on things, and she’s already very wise. He nodded as she finished every sentence of hers since he agreed with the statements she made.

“You are absolutely correct. I will do just that of being respectful and patient towards what those in power have to say... even if I don’t agree with it. I don’t plan on being in politics most likely since I don’t think I’m up for the task, but perhaps one day I’ll change my mind and try to strive for our country and hopefully those young as me can look for ways to be able to help the country too. You know Birdy. I am not kidding when I say I look up to you as both a politician and a person. Thank you.”

“Of course dear! I’m glad that I was able to give you what you needed. And one more thing,” Birdy stood up from her chair, about to leave for a quick swim, “no matter who you are in life, there will always be times when you need to talk to someone, and there is nothing wrong with that. It’s part of self care dear! Ohoho well you have a good morning! And good luck with the POP challenge!” Birdy exited the room to get changed into her swimsuit.

”T-thank... you, Birdy. For both the well wishes and the advice. I will see you later.” He said as he watched her leave. Off she goes.

She did give meaningful advice though. As someone wanting to become a therapist, people do have the right to talk to someone in order to let off any problems they had instead of bottling it up. Self-care like Birdy said.

He was a bit sad since she was no longer in the same room as him, but... he won’t wallow. That’s what she wouldn’t want him to do.
