| Well, this is interesting.
Devika has never viewed a single episode of Mad House in her entire life. She has, however, read the guide book thoroughly. She understands how the rules of the game work. She understands the significance of an alliance.
Yet, she had never expected to be offered an alliance. Not with a man her father spoke candidly about (side note: she never had expected a man who looked a like a model to tell her she had a nice smile, or to wear a t-shirt belonging to a rock star she had become acquainted with... there were a lot of firsts) or a restaurant owner slash father of three, but this was it. The game. The starting line. The strategy.
She looked to Chen. He gave them a bright smile. He was genuinely excited about the idea of the three of them working together. J.C.D.C was a catchy name, too. She just... was a bit surprised, is all. Devika knew Chen was a good man, a hardworking, father of three... but she also didn’t know him. Maybe him being excited out of the gate meant he was dangerous. She hadn’t known what to expect.
However, clinging to her wrist, Devika realized she was open to getting to know anyone and everyone, even if they were a little bit too aggressive time to time. She couldn’t say no to the option of getting to work alongside him and Jerome, and she knew over time they were bound to grow close. This was just the beginning.
”...Okay,” she said softly, “I will gladly work with both of you.” | |
